Dropbox sync

Dropbox is a file hosting service operated by Dropbox, Inc, that offers cloud storage, file synchronization, personal cloud, and client software.

Dropbox creates a special folder on the user’s computer, the contents of which are then synchronized to Dropbox’s servers and to other computers and devices that the user has installed Dropbox on, keeping the same files up-to-date on all devices.

Note. Before making sync settings with Dropbox, make the settings from the section Setting up file storage on server.

Set up Dropbox sync

To configure sync with Dropbox, follow these steps:

  1. Register on the site https://www.dropbox.com.
  2. Download the application Dropbox from the official site and install on the application server.
  3. Specify a directory for storing files on the server:
    1. Go to the Preferences.

    2. Select the folder location in the Account tab.

      On the specified path the system will automatically add the folder Dropbox.

  4. Specify in creatio the catalog created in p.3 (Setting up file catalog) and configure the rights for this folder (Setting up the rights on the server).

Checking the result of settings

To verify External File Storage for creatio, follow these steps:

    1. Verify that the current creatio user is licensed for the product.
    2. Check the system setting [Storage file folder on server] value and check the read and write permissions IIS user.
    3. Go to the [Accounts] section and open the record page. Add file to the [Attachments] detail.

    4. Connect to the creatio application server and go to the directory specified in the system settings [Storage file folder on server].
      When you add a file to creatio, synchronization with the specified folder is performed automatically. In this directory, a folder with a name in the format [[creatio section name]File].

      This folder contains files that have been attached to the entries in the creatio section. Each file is located a folder with the name corresponding to the file ID in the creatio application.

      You can edit the file on the server, and then download the modified file from the page recording page.

      You can be shared to other users access to synchronized files via Dropbox.
